Culturefest in our Communities
Culturefest in Our Communities brings the magic of Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival beyond the weekend and into schools and after-school programs. Through hands-on workshops, school-wide performances, and cultural exchanges, students, teachers, and families experience immersive artistic traditions that foster joy and cross-cultural understanding.
What We Do
We launched this program in Fall 2024 to expand the reach of Culturefest and provide meaningful cultural experiences for young people and their families.
By bringing world-class artists into Mercer County Schools and The Wade Center, students engaged in:
๐ถ The rhythms of West African drumming
๐ค The energy and storytelling of hip-hop movement
Students learned directly from master artists, connected with cultural traditions, and even performed alongside professionals on a community stage at Culturefest.
Why It Matters
Culturefest in Our Communities was created to share the transformative power of the arts with as many young people and families as possible. In our first year, we saw an incredible impact:
โ
Students gained confidence and a sense of belonging.
โ
Schools became vibrant spaces of creativity and connection.
โ
Families who had never attended Culturefest came out in full force.
This year, weโre building on that momentum by bringing back beloved artists, introducing new performance elements, and expanding student participation opportunities.
